Garmin has released the successor to their popular LIDAR-Lite v2 distance sensor, the new LIDAR-Lite v3. Perfect for use in drones and robots, this lightweight, capable sensor gives you reliable performance at a range of up to 40 meters without taking up a lot of space or using a lot of power. The unit is configurable to emphasize accuracy, range, or measurement time, depending on your needs. The LIDAR-Lite v3 communicates with your micro-controller using two different standards, either PWM or I2C. It operates at 5V DC with a current consumption rate of <100mA at continuous operation. Priced at $149.99, the LIDAR-Lite v3 is a great compact, high-performance optical distant measurement sensor solution.
