ZUtA Labs of Israel has created a printer so small, it fits in your hand. Simply line the corner of the device up with the corner of any piece of paper, connect it wirelessly to a Wi-Fi-enabled device, and it’s ready to roll — literally. Rolling slowly over the paper while printing, the robot can complete one standard-size page per minute and lasts an hour on a single charge.
Currently, one ink cartridge can print about 100 sheets of paper, though ZUtA Labs says they are still testing this metric. Ink cartridges can be replaced easily, by opening a panel on the bottom of the device.
While color copying isn’t an option for this device, the ZUtA robot still represents a significant advance in printing. And at just $199 on pre-order, it could make printing-on-the-go a reality for many people. So it’s hardly surpring that the device won a Best of Innovation award at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
