Dawn Robotics’ new kit offers a low-cost solution for those who want to add mobility to their Raspberry Pi camera.

The Chassis Kit includes everything you’ll need to get started, minus the Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi camera, WiFi dongle, and SD card. An online tutorial details how to put the robot together. But the kit comes with all of the wires already soldered to the motors, and 2.54mm connectors crimped onto all of the wires — so you won’t need to heat up the soldering iron!

Once it’s all hooked up, the two-wheeled bot can be controlled remotely using any WiFi-enabled device capable of running an HTML5 browser.

You can buy the Raspberry Pi Camera Robot Chassis Kit online for less than £50. (Dawn Robotics is based in England but ships to Canada and the United States.)

  1. Would not be cheaper to connect a USB webcam and use OpenCV library to drive it ?
