MIT Robot Hand Adds Fingers

MIT researchers have developed a robot hand extension that adds two fingers to the wrist of the user. These can be used to grasp large objects and to hold glasses and trays, to simplify the mechanics of eating, drinking and writing.  Three servos on each side provide 3 degrees of freedom (3DOF) for each finger on the extended robotic hand. Photos by Researcher Faye Wu.
