Jack Streat takes a slightly different approach in LEGO HEAVY WEAPONS. The four LEGO guns this book shows you how to build are based on some of the world’s most iconic firearms: the Desert Eagle handgun, the AKS-74U assault rifle, the Jungle Carbine, and the SPAS 12 shotgun. From a distance, these LEGO constructions look surprisingly realistic and should be handled and shown with care. The Desert Eagle has a non-firing ‘blowback’ action but the remaining guns all fire projectiles.
There isn’t one standout weapon in Streat’s book, instead each scale replica has some surprisingly cool design features. The non-firing Desert Eagle’s ‘blowback’ mechanism looks great in operation and it has a working safety. The AKS has a working detachable magazine and folding stock. The Jungle Carbine has a bolt- action cocking mechanism and is very accurate. The SPAS 12 has an in-stock mag- azine and a very cool pump-action.
LEGO HEAVY WEAPONS’ organization is almost identical to BADASS LEGO GUNS’. Both books come from the same publisher and the format works well so that’s not surprising. Pick up one or both of these books for some great LEGO weapon fun.
