Parents who love robots are a different breed. We dream of the first build with our child, and eagerly await the day when our kids will be old enough to handle a soldering iron (with adult supervision, of course). When they are ready, it’s up to us to pick the perfect project. While not a robot, the Zoo Animals from DFRobot represents the kind of quick, easy, and highly creative STEAM project that’s perfect for engaging young minds. I’ve no doubt that this two-hour project would spark a lot of great conversations about how things work.

The kit comes with light-up scenes featuring six adorable animals: a panda, a bunny, a sheep, a llama, a lion, and a giraffe. The do-it-yourself kit is ideal for introducing soldering and circuits to children six and up.

You can buy the 4-Soldering Zoo Animals Kit at the DFRobot online store for just $16.95.
