Dear Everyone
I'm doing Electrical and Electronic Engineering and just about choosing my 3rd year project, one of the options are build a robot but i don’t have any idea to go for. Can you please help me out in this matter? Just can you please mention any project that can be done within a academic year.
Best Regard's

I think you could manage a vaccume cleaner in a year. At least an autonomous sweeper. You could site issues with the iRobot Roomba, the Electrolux model etc to give some credibility to the project/something to compare your solution to and why it's better.

I'm partial to artbots that are also functional. One of my buddies whose a college student is building Bar 2 D 2, a star wars clone that is a beer dispensing bot. A lot of competitions are out there, Vex, firefighting, combat, sumo, etc that give you a framework of support and competitions are great motivators! FIRST and BotsIQ also are great.
I'm currently working on a composter robot.
you dump waste in its mouth.
it has a composter inside it.
when it gets full, it asks to be let ouside.
it goes out and poops compost on your lawn, then comes back in.

@ D0n: sweet!
Seriously, that's an awesome project. I had an idea for something related, but of course, I haven't the time right now to get into much in the way of robotics.
If anyone wants to try it - basically, a robotic dung-beetle and here's why:
I live in an area with alot of dogs and dog-owners who don't understand what the little plastic bags are for. Although I'm certain my own dog is responsible for a few of the little surprises out there, I do try to pick up after her. I have on occasion counted up to a dozen + piles in the very small area out front of my apartment. With this problem in mind I thought of building a small out-door bot, complete with built-in solar panels and a small assortment of sensors for the purpose of tracking down, removing, and disposing of doggy piles, and doing it with minimal human attention.
Unfortunately though, I don't have the time to devote to much in the way of robotics and prize like this would almost certainly be stolen.
