What resources (i.e., books, URL Addresses) are most educational for an amateur?

What sort of things do you find interesting in robotics? There are many resources these days on the web and in books on many aspects of robotics. Are you interested in simulation to try out some ideas you have? How about combat robots? Space Shuttle? DARPA's autonomous cars? A snake robot that can climb up your leg and up walls? Something a little more aquatic? Legs vs. wheels? A whacky robot that looks like a paranoid triangle?
