According to NASA TechBriefs, JPL has proposed an electronics architecturefor the rapid construction and testing of robot prototypes. Thearchitecture is based on the PC/104 standard and adds specifications forreconfigurable and modular I/O, processors, sensors, actuators and otherfunctions. Also included in the architecture design are multiplewatchdog timers for the computer and other boards. So far thecomplete architecture doesn't appear to be published online anywhere but, hopefully it will be soon. The architecture was designed by MichaelGarrett, BrettKennedy, and others at JPL's RoboticsHardware System Group.
