Anyone own one of these?

The mfg is also selling them direct:

$399.99 for these??? That's pretty darn cheap for what you get. At this price, I'm guessing that the brackets are plastic?
Still, getting that many servos, electronics, cabling, 13" tall bipedal, etc. is quite a deal...
If any of you own one of these, please share your experience about it, pros and cons.
If there is already a thread regarding this, can you please point me to it? Thanks!

Yes, I own one of the RTW versions.

Exactly.
For me one of the key attractions has been the open software architecture and ability to add my own software applications.
If any of you own one of these, please share your experience about it, pros and cons.
Check out the Robophilo review I wrote for the Robot Magazine Winter 2007 issue. It includes all of my experiences and opinions, pro and con, so far.

That being said, I didn't build it from the kit - it came already assembled, so I can't really comment on the assembly process and instructions.

I bought the kit and I gotta say it is allot for the money. I now own a controller and 17 full size servos and 3 micro servos so if I decide to build a different robot I have a pretty good head start.
cons
the software it comes with is not my fav, anyone know of another I can use with it?
battery life
expect about 5 mins of useful life from the stock battery,I am looking for a substitute
bottom line,400$ for a robot? yup good deal just don't expect a robnova and you wont be disappointed.

The interface and data format is open, so you can easily write your own. Talk to them about the SDK.
In anycase, I would like to know what is your 'fav' - i.e. what are you comparing it to?

You definitely need to talk to them and figure out what's going on. The stock battery lasts for 20+ minutes typically, at least that's been my experience.

True enough.

Hi Trey. The bot itself isn't too bad, but watch those servos, they are quite weak. If it uses the standard size, I suppose you can upgrade them to a more powerful servo...
