Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to use one of these pico-itx boards with a biped robot system.

or is there a better method of creating a small powerful brain.

I have seen this board in my friend's home. the function is exactly the same of your desktop computer, but the overall size is in a miniature scale. Very good!
As I heard from my friend, the board just under pilot run, Mass production will be ready end of September.

Hello,

I am trying to pick up a Robonova now. I wonder if a pico itx board would fit onto it?

Might be difficult! because even the board size is tiny, but you need connect lot of connectors for interface. you need modify a lot of your Robonova to fit in this board. Of course, then your robonova will be more powerful (if you can manage the software very well).

Hello,

I wonder if there is a better robot system that will have the space and capacity to use a pico-itx mother board.

I think that if they could develop a duo cor pico itx board with integrated wifi and a micro hard drive with some capacity 30 to 80 gigs then you could have a humanoid robot with a level of autonomy but also the ability to monitor it through a local wireless network.

Le Trung created a program called B.R.A.I.N.S

That I think would work well with a system like this.

Hi,

In case you are wondering pico-itx is too weak for vision recognition.
For vision recognition such as object, you need to convert 3D (real world) to 2D (software) to process the object.

Pico by itself is OK with a small robot controlling a servo controller.

If I were to use pico with Aiko then I would need 4 Pico motherboards.

1 for sensors + sound, recognition + AI.
1 for the legs and center of gravity
1 for the upper body and 6 microcontrollers
1 for vision.

You either have 2 strong motherboards or 4 weak motherboards.

As Asbrandsson mentions, It would be nice if they have a duo pico or something similar.

Overall, pico is a good motherboard, especially small robot like robonova.

Hello,

I appreciate the heads up on that. I would like to build a Robonova with visual recognition - as I think that it is key to making a Robot autonomous.
