It's a design trade-off. If they set it up to run faster, that means higher torque, more impact/stress on the servos/gears, higher battery drain - not to mention increased cost.

does any know or like that the servos can be upgraded?

This was answered in other places, but it's probably useful to answer it here as well since other poeple might have the same question.

Basically, the answer is no - at least for the first generation i-SOBOT. It comes pre-assembled and ready to run right out of the box. There are no announced plans for a servo upgrade at this time.

Of course, if you want to attempt upgrading the servos on your own it might be an interesting, if difficult, project.

The KHR-2HV is a very different product from the i-SOBOT in terms of size, cost, expandability, etc. They're apples and oranges. As far as armour goes, there are several options.

Making it yourself can certainly be done, but takes a lot of experience and patience. The most common approach is to use vacuum forming to make lexan shells using the same methods used by the RC car and plane fans. The techniques are simple, and the fixtures can be fabricated very cheaply - even using items from your local dollar store.

Kondo markets a cool looking armour set that Trossen and other distributors have listed on their websites for around $150.

It will be released both in the US and Japan in October this year. Tomy hasn't disclosed who will be carrying it, but I'm sure that over the next few months quite a few of the usual robot distributors will list it on their sites. Our Robots Dreams website (http://www.robots-dreams.com/isobot/index.html) keeps up with the latest i-SOBOT information.

The new i-SOBOT (http://www.robotshop.ca/home/products/robot-toys/tomy-omnibot-2007-i-sobot.html) is among the most advanced miniature humanoid robot toys on the market. Harry is right; we are carrying it and we should receive the first ones by the beginning of November. Actually, lots of our customers have already pre-ordered their own.

The RobotShop (http://www.robotshop.ca/home/index.html) team is always trying to bring into the world's market the latest in robot technology, and this is not an exception.

Thank you for referring your community to us Harry.
