So, some of you may have noticed I've stopped working on MicroRaptor. That's just a temporary situation while I do some "paying" work on a project that is very similar, and shares a lot of the pieces with MicroRaptor.

BrainBot is a biped humanoid robot I'm building using a Bioloid kit as a base. I've built a new chest compartment that has extra room inside for a pan servo for the stereo vision head, plus room for some custom electronics and a new gumstix verdex single board computer. The gumstix will provide a high-bandwidth wifi interface to the Bioloid bus, so the robot can be controlled from a remote PC (or directly on the gumstix if desired). It also has a custom-built 6-axis IMU inside the chest.

I've designed custom grippers (http://www.huv.com/blog/2007/04/grippers.html) as well, which will have pressure-feedback and a free-rotating wrist joint. The grippers are being "printed" right now and will be installed within a week or two.

Great stuff Jon!

At the rate you're moving I can hardly wait until you start with the machine learning portion of the project.

Cool upgrades. Has anyone tried to us the gumstix with the Robonovna-1? I like the idea of being able to program in C. Adding wifi to the RN whould also be very helpful.:D
