I'm just curious about the people on the forum. What is your age?

I just turned 30 this past October.

-note to mod, poll options would be nice too :)

Hi Rover,

-note to mod

It should say "-note to admin". Because it is the admin who does that stuff.

Going to be 40 in November (I'll be happy to send out my birthday wish list -- don't feel obliged to buy me more than one thing). My three kids keep me young, my wife keeps me old. hahahahaha

Oh, and polls have always been there.

Wow, 74 views and only 3 responses. We need more participation. That's what makes the world go round on a forum.

Hey Duck, we have more in common than our country. I'm turning 40 in September, and have three kids also...

well i'm 28 if memory serves me right i stoped counting after 22 wasn't anything left to be excited for. ie 15 is work permit and 16 a learners permit 18 well you know and 21 lot so and lots of pool tables. maybe i should be looking forward to 65 retirement? I like to work to much. anyway I was thinking how about start a thread that talks about you personal background now i understand that in this day and age of idenity theift but i don't think that we will be placing our account information phone and addresses but some back ground about ourselves would be great. Example (this may not be true) has had years of experence working with boat models. and I looking to find a way to build a boat for my vex would like to start a conversation with him because he has experience with it he might be able to put me in the right direction. now if i can only stay out of the fossil fuel power plants.

If you think that this is a good idea let me know maybe we can start the thread together.

I'm 40 something also. I wonder why many of us (from our small sample), seem to cluster in that age range? What was it in our early years that that would inspire an interest in robotics today? Was it movies, science fiction stories, computers and changes in technology, maybe the Space Race? I'm not sure I can point to just one thing fo myself, I think it was a little of each.

I thought about the 40 something age range a little more and one thing that I think made a difference was Star Wars. I remember that when it first came out that one of the things that made such a hit was the robots, C3PO and R2D2. I think that may have been the start of really wanting to have robots that you could hang out with and work with. Since then I think many of us have been working towards having robots around us in our homes and at work. Look at all the work now towards humanoid robots, is it the desire to have our own C3PO part of that of that drive?

Hey Dutch,

You put yourself in the wrong category! Anyone playing with robots is on the leading edge, not over the hill. :)
