Robotics goes arts and crafts?

I first was inspired to try my own robots by Mark Tilden's BEAM robots. I think what caught my attention was that they were made from simple materials and they looked really cool. The A in the BEAM acronym is for asthetics and many of the BEAM creations that you can find on the web are true works of art. Check out the Solarbotics.com website and their forum for examples. A couple of kits in particular are the magbot sundancer that flexes its wings in the sunlight, the hexpummer that puts on a light show each night.
