A poorly made power supply can wreak havoc on a robotics project, particularly one that uses USB power. If the cable is too long, made with narrow gauge wire, and the project requires a lot of current, the adapter might not provide 5V reliably. This can cause brownouts while you’re working with your Raspberry Pi, or any other single-board computer.

This International 5V 2A Power Supply from Adafruit was thoughtfully designed to eliminate that problem. It features 20 AWG wires and is technically a 5.3V adapter. This way, even if your project draws a ton of current, your single-board computer will still get at least 4.9V.

It also features interchangeable adapters for the US, Australia, Euro, and UK outlets. So you can take your project with you on the road. A similar adapter with connecters for the US only, is also available.
